CICADA designed Abigail Pankey Apartments to blend into its surroundings with its brick faced exterior, yet have interior features that honor the colors and textures of the Mantua neighborhood’s murals and heritage. The building consists of 32 two-and three-bedroom apartments and a large Community Room with kitchenette. Careful thought was put into the massing and building siting to prevent it from blocking sunlight from the adjacent garden, a vital element in the community. The building recedes along the sidewalk, fronted by green buffer zones to both allow privacy as well as minimize the perceived impact of the building’s scale.
