St. Joseph’s Prep Master Plan

The mission of St. Joseph’s Prep is to develop the minds, hearts, souls, and characters of young men in their pursuit of becoming men for and with others. Since 1876 the Prep has occupied most of a full city block just north of Center City Philadelphia. Enrollment growth and changes in pedagogy spurred the School to undertake an existing conditions assessment, a strategic plan, and a facilities master plan simultaneously.

The Strategic Plan identified the need for parking for student commuters, athletic practice fields adjacent to the school, additional classrooms, and spaces for student activities. The Master Plan outlined a strategy to accomplish those goals, through the acquisition of adjacent parcels, targeted interior renovation to the classroom building constructed in 1964, and the conversion of the eight-story former rectory at the northwest corner of the campus.
