Dance Iquail Studio + Cultural Center Feasibility Study
Dance Iquail sets out to empower inner-city youth through education and community building, and intends to expand its reach and programming by creating a cultural center and studio space in the Belmont neighborhood of West Philadelphia. CICADA conducted a feasibility study to understand how the program needs fit onto their site, what site development might look like, and what an estimated construction cost would be, to support Dance Iquail’s future-planning.
The feasibility study includes the demolition of an existing one-story on the site and new construction of a 3-story structure as permitted by zoning designation.
Program uses include a flexible and convertible dance studio for an audience of up to 150 persons, storage for costumes and props, adult and children’s dressing rooms, and four dance studios for class sizes of 15 students that are visible from the street. Support spaces include a large front entrance lobby, offices, a lounge and hang-out space, an occupiable rooftop space, loading space at the rear that converts to a street-front stage, and leasable ground floor retail space.
