Monroe Buckner, RA

A project manager at CICADA since 2011, Monty brought with him 31 years of experience with institutional, commercial, and custom residential projects at another Philadelphia architectural firm. Since joining CICADA, Monty has been a project manager for many housing projects and education projects at Swarthmore College and University of Pennsylvania, while providing behind-the-scenes support for several other renovations and new construction. His thoroughness and attention to detail make him an asset to every project with which he is involved.

Monty grew-up locally in Doylestown Borough, in Bucks County, a short distance from Fonthill, the unique home of Henry Chapman Mercer. Exposure to the early reinforced concrete buildings of Mercer, lead to Monty’s early interest in architecture. This interest was further piqued by trips to Philadelphia with his father, who was a superintendent with a Philadelphia construction company that worked on several nationally historic buildings, including Independence Hall, Christ Church and the Second Bank of the United States. Monty received his Bachelor of Architecture from Penn State in 1976, and his Master’s of Architecture from the University of Virginia in 1979. He is a registered architect in Pennsylvania, and serves on the Black Horse Inn Advisory Committee in Springfield Township, Montgomery County. In his spare time, he is an avid reader and enjoys classic movies.
